Life back calculator

You didn't start a business to chase voicemails at 9 pm.

Every night it's the same: call back, leave a message, text "sorry I missed you," do it again tomorrow. Move two sliders and see how much of your life that eats. Then see what those hours could be: ballgames, dinners at home, a weekend away.

  • More time for the people you're working for in the first place.
  • Same fast reply on every lead, so your process holds up as you grow.
  • Calm, not chaos: every lead logged, scored and summed up for you.
Quick answer · estimate
260 hours a year

That's about 86 ballgames with the kids, or 260 family dinners.

Estimate
22 hours

back each month, 260 hours a year

You spend about 5 hours a week chasing leads. That is about 22 hours a month you could get back.

Estimate · the money side
$13,000

a month in jobs you may be missing from late replies, $156,000 a year

3.3 jobs a month, from 16.3 late leads a month at your close rate.

From your inputs, not a promise. The money estimate assumes late leads would close at your normal rate if they were answered fast. That may be high or low for you. Why speed matters: a Harvard Business Review audit of 2,241 companies found firms that answered within an hour were nearly 7 times as likely to qualify the lead.

Your evenings come home

New leads get an instant email and, if they agreed to it, a call from Lily in about 60 seconds. You don't have to grab the phone at dinner to keep the job.

One playbook, every lead

Same greeting, same questions, same follow-up, whether it's lead #3 or lead #300. Your best process, done every time, even when you're slammed or growing.

Organized without the stress

Every lead is logged, scored A, B or C, and summed up in your inbox with the call recording. No sticky notes, no "did anyone call this guy back?"

Picture next Tuesday: a lead comes in at 9:47 pm while you're on the couch. Lily emails them right away and calls at 8 am. By the time you've had coffee, the summary is in your inbox.

Show the math
  1. Hours a week: 15 leads × 20 min ÷ 60 = 5 hours
  2. Hours a month: 5 × 52 weeks ÷ 12 months = 21.7 hours
  3. Hours a year: 5 × 52 = 260 hours
  4. Life cards: 260 hours ÷ 3 hours per ballgame = 86 ballgames (we round down to whole ones)
  5. Leads a month: 15 × 52 ÷ 12 = 65 leads
  6. Late leads a month: 65 × 25% = 16.3 leads
  7. Jobs back a month: 16.3 × 20% close rate = 3.3 jobs
  8. Money a month: 3.3 × $4,000 = $13,000, a year: $13,000 × 12 = $156,000

This counts the chasing time as time you could get back if the first reply and the follow-up calls are handled for you. You still talk with the leads who are ready. It does not include any costs. All estimates.

Why it matters

Fast replies win. Slow ones wait.

Questions

The calculator, answered

How does the life back calculator work?

Hours back per month equals new leads per week times the minutes you spend chasing each one, times 52 weeks, divided by 12 months and by 60 minutes. Jobs back per month equals leads per month times the share that get a late reply times your close rate. Money is jobs back times your average job value. All of it is an estimate from your own inputs.

Is this a promise of results?

No. It is an estimate from the numbers you type in. Your real results depend on your leads, your team and your follow-up after the first reply.

How are trips, ballgames and dinners counted?

We use simple sizes: a weekend trip is 16 hours, a ballgame is 3 hours, a book is 6 hours, a call with an old friend is 1 hour and a family dinner is 1 hour. The cards show what your yearly hours could become if you spent all of them on that one thing.

Why does a fast reply matter?

A Harvard Business Review audit of 2,241 companies in 2011 found the average response time to a web lead was 42 hours, only 37% answered within an hour, and firms that answered within an hour were nearly 7 times as likely to qualify the lead.
